Is your water aging you?
Let’s talk about water.
If you’ve met with me (or taken my online course), you know one of the first things we discuss is hydration — I suggest drinking roughly half your body weight (in ounces) of filtered water per day (and at least 12 oz of room temperature water upon waking).
What is really lurking in your water?!
However…
Today, I want to shine a light on something many of us assume is safe (because we live in the U.S.) yet might be silently compromising your skin, hormones, gut health, and overall well-being: the water in your home.
If you are not in Texas, this article might not be completely applicable to you. For reference: Pennsylvania, Texas, West Virgina and New Jersey are amongst the top water offenders.

But if you are curious about how water has the ability to impact your overall well-being… read on.
This summer, I got my real estate license.
It’s not a career change, it’s literally an extension of what I have always done for the past 15+ years. Help you feel your best.
As a Holistic Nutritionist, I believe wellness is not just about what’s on your plate, it’s literally the micro details that make up your everyday.
Wellness is a lifestyle.
And… your HOME is at the center of everything.
Why your water (really) matters:
Every time you drink a glass of water, cook with it, shower, or even wash your face — you’re exposing your body’s largest organ (skin), your digestive system, and your hormone-metabolizing organs (liver, kidneys) to what’s in that water.
When I moved back to Dallas in 2019— I started having issues with my skin for the first time in YEARS.
So… when I came across Dallas Water Doctor, I immediately contacted them to learn more about their services.
What once was probably a simple conversation about plumbing, became a conversation about whole body health.
According to Zack at Dallas Water Doctor, their whole-home filtration systems are designed to remove chlorine, heavy metals, harmful chemicals, PFAS, and excess mineralsthat can cause unwanted health concerns.
What water has to do with you health (really):
So let’s break it down… How does the quality of your water impact your overall well-being?
Skin & Hair:
This one is the most obvious…
Hard water (rich in calcium, magnesium) + chlorine = dry, broken out, irritated skin, dull hair, rough texture.
Softened, purified water means less irritant exposure — smoother skin, fewer breakouts, softer hair.
Imagine stepping into your shower and instead of feeling like you’re “drying out,” you’re nourishingyour skin.
Hormones & Natural Detox Channels:
This one is huge.
Chemicals like heavy metals, chlorine by-products, PFAS (“forever chemicals”) have been linked to hormone disruption and detox-pathway overload.
So if you are using glass, over plastic… but bathing in hormone disruptors… yikes!
When your liver and kidneys are busy handling extra burden from icky water, they have less bandwidth for estrogen/progesterone metabolism, cortisol clearance, and overall hormone balance (and for my cocktail and Starbucks coffee drinkers— this means less tolerance for everyday guilty pleasures… aka: toxins).
Clean water gives your hormone system fewer interferences and a clearer pathway to balance.
Gut + Microbiome
Your gut is exposed to whatever enters your body — and water is a primary medium.
Irritants, heavy metals, and chlorine by-products may alter the gut microbiome or challenge gut integrity over time. Feeling bloated all the time? That’s not normal. Get your gut checked. Ask me how.
Filtering your water reduces those burdens, giving your gut a cleaner foundation to repair, rebalance, and support your whole-body health. (Along with specific supplements to aid it).
Home & Lifestyle:
Beyond your body: Clean, soft water means less appliance damage, less stains, less “build-up,” less cleaning — meaning your home environment supports wellness, and it looks good too.
When your surroundings are optimized, your wellness plan (nutrition, hormones, mindset) has an easier chance to succeed.
As someone that has moved 10+ times in the past decade, I have personally experienced how my mental health (and motivation) became an extension of my home environment.
Next Steps:
Test your water. Notice taste, scent, feel (skin after shower). If you have hard water signs (scale, spots, dry skin) you’re likely being impacted.

Consider a whole-home filtration system. These filter every tap — drinking, cooking, showering. The Dallas Water Doctor offers “whole-home filtration systems” that remove major contaminants at the point of entry. (Or… at least filter your shower, and main faucets).
Make it part of your wellness toolkit. This isn’t “just another home improvement.” It’s a health investment. When you layer clean water + nutrient-rich food + hormone support + gut healing, you amplify results.
Think long-term. Purified water supports radiant skin, balanced hormones, gut healing, and longevity. It’s part of the foundation.
By the way, I am in no way affiliated with The Dallas Water Doctor… (nor do I receive a kickback for mentioning them) I am just obsessed with getting you and your family the results you deserve.
Your body deserves nothing less than optimal conditions to thrive. Clean, purified water is one of those underrated—but powerful—foundations of wellness.
